एक कुशल व्यापारी या उत्पादक समंकों के आध र पर माँग के प्रति जागरूक रहता है और अपनी व्यापारिक नीतियों का निर्धारण करता है । वस्तु की माँग का पूर्वानुमान लगाने के लिए व्यापारी मौसम परिवर्तनों , व्यापार चक्रों जीवन - स्तर , रस्मो - रिवाज , ग्राहकों की रुचि , क्रय - शक्ति आदि के उपलब्ध समंकों को आधार बनाता है । माँग के अतिरिक्त कच्चे माल के क्रय , उत्पाद के विक्रय , यातायात लागत , विज्ञापन , वित्तीय साधन , मजदूरी , मूल्य निर्धारित नीतियों का निर्धारण भी समंकों के विश्लेषण द्वारा करता है । बॉडिंगटन के अनुसार , " एक सफल व्यापारी वही है जिसका अनुमान यथार्थता के अत्यधिक निकट होता है । "

A skilled trader or producer remains aware of the demand on the basis of data and decides his business policies. For forecasting the demand for a commodity, the trader makes the basis of available data such as weather changes, business cycles, standard of living, customs, customer interest, purchasing power, etc.
In addition to the demand, the purchase of raw materials, sales of products, transportation costs, advertising, financial means, wages, pricing policies are also determined by the analysis of data. According to Boddington, "A successful trader is one whose estimate is the closest to accuracy."
