दीर्घकाल में उत्पादन के साधनों में समान अनुपात में वृद्धि करने पर उत्पादन किस अनुपात में बढ़ता है यही पैमाने के प्रतिफल का नियम बताता है।

अर्थात दिर्घकाल में पैमाने के प्रतिफल सभी साधनों में समान अनुपात में होने वाले परिवर्तनों के फलस्वरूप कुल उत्पादन में होने वाले परिवर्तन से है।

पैमाने के प्रतिफल की तीन अवस्थाएं हैं:-

पैमाने के बढ़ते प्रतिफल

पैमाने के स्थिर प्रतिफल 

पैमाने के घटते प्रतिफल
