उत्तर - सार्वजनिक उपक्रमों में कुछ गिने-चुने उपक्रम ही लाभ कमा रहे हैं । सरकार एवं वर्तमान परिस्थितियों में इस बात की चर्चा है कि सभी सार्वजनिक उपक्रमों का निजीकरण कर दिया जाना चाहिए।
एक कथन यह है कि "व्यापार राज्य का हिस्सा नहीं है"
अर्थात इस आधार पर हम कह सकते हैं कि सभी उपक्रम चाहे वह घाटे में हो या लाभ में सभी का निजीकरण किया जाना चाहिए । उसके लिए निम्न तर्क दिए जा सकते हैं :-
1. निजीकृत कंपनियों में बाजार अनुशासन के परिणामस्वरूप वे और अधिक दक्ष होंगी। जैसे मारुति का निजीकरण
2. निजीकरण का पूंजी बाजार( शेयर बाजार) पर लाभकारी प्रभाव होगा।
3. निजीकरण से सरकार के पास बड़ी पूंजी आएगी जिससे अन्य विकास एवं कल्याणात्मक कार्य हो सकेंगे ।
4. सार्वजनिक उपक्रमों के पास बहुत बड़ी भूमि पूंजी उपलब्ध है जिसका विनिवेश कर बड़ी राशि जुटाई जा सकती है।
