प्रत्यक्ष व्यक्तिगत अनुसंधान विधि में अनुसंधानकर्ता को स्वयं अनुसंधान क्षेत्र में जाकर सूचना देने वालों से संपर्क स्थापित करके सूचना प्राप्त करनी होती है इस विधि की सफलता के लिए आवश्यक है कि अनुसंधानकर्ता मेहनती कुशल निष्पक्ष धैर्यवान हो।

1. शुद्धता - इस विधि द्वारा संकलित समंक सामग्री से प्राप्त परिणामों में उच्च स्तर की शुद्धता मिलती है।
2. मौलिकता - इस विधि द्वारा संकलित समंक मौलिक होते हैं।
3. मितव्ययिता - इस विधि पर आधारित समंक संकलन अपेक्षाकृत वेता से संपन्न होते हैं।
4. गोपनीयता - इस विधि में गोपनीयता को सफलतापूर्वक सुरक्षित रखा जा सकता है।
5. लोचदार - यह प्रणाली लोचदार है क्योंकि अनुसंधानकर्ता आवश्यकता अनुसार प्रश्नों में फेरबदल कर सकता है।
प्रत्यक्ष व्यक्तिगत अनुसंधान विधि के दोष या सीमाएं-
1. पक्षपात - इस विधि में अनुसंधानकर्ता स्वयं अनुसंधान करता है इसके कारण व्यक्तिगत पक्षपात होने की संभावना रहती है।
2. सीमित क्षेत्र - यह अनुसंधान विधि सीमित क्षेत्र नहीं उपयुक्त है व्यापक क्षेत्र में इसका प्रयोग संभव नहीं।
3. खर्चीली - यह विधि समय धन एवं श्रम की अधिकता के कारण अधिक खर्चीली है।
4. समग्र की विशेषताओं का अभाव - इस अनुसंधान विधि के प्रयोग से अनुसंधान का क्षेत्र सीमित होने के कारण यह संभव है कि संकलित समंक समग्र की विशेषताओं को प्रकट न करें।
